Perhaps we missed Beck’s transition to adult contemporary–since he hasn’t put out an album since 2008’s Modern Guilt–but it’s here alright.
His first single from February’s Morning Phase, “Blue Moon,” is lush, mature and forlorn, something that could pejoratively be called “dad rock.” But hold up–it’s definitely not that. Despite Beck stating that he’s tired of being alone over the song’s folksy acoustic guitar, there’s a beauty to really grab at here, which anyone of any age can appreciate.
