After nearly two and a half years, Beyonce is back. Bey got the #BeyHive buzzing with her long-awaited album Lemonade late Saturday after premiering a short film of the same name on HBO.
Fans had an inkling that her album would arrive at some point before her Formation tour kicks off April 27th, and that dream has come to fruition. The album’s release comes after ‘Yonce left a nearly indecipherable bread crumb trail for her fans over the past year. Much like the lead up to 2013’s Beyonce, the hints were always there but only for the most eagle eyed fans and even then most only make sense now in retrospect.
The album comes on the heels of just one single, “Formation”, which arrived without warning in February and began rampant speculation that Bey had an album on the way. From there, things reached a fever pitch when the 34-year-old singer announced the Formation tour on Super Bowl Sunday and launched new clothing line Ivy Park at the end of March. Each announcement fanned the flames and seemed to make fans even more irritable, but now she’s finally feeding their insatiable hunger for all things Beyonce.
Lemonade is a star-studded affair, featuring appearances from Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, Jack White, and The Weeknd, and production by BOOTS, Diplo, Hit-Boy, Mike Dean, Mike WiLL Made-It and Just Blaze.
