Beyonce ruffled feathers with her “Formation” music video and her Super Bowl performance, where the superstar paid tribute to the Black Panthers. The pro-black showing upset folks nationwide because they felt Bey was being anti-police and dropping hate speech. Now, the singer is gearing up for more controversy with a video that will reportedly feature Trayvon Martin and victims of police brutality.
The parents of Tamir Rice, Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin will reportedly be making appearances in Queen Bey’s new socially conscious video. Per the rumors, the “powerful” clip will feature the grief-stricken parents holding pictures of their murdered sons.
If the rumors hold true, it’ll be another show of support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Earlier this year, the singer’s Tidal streaming service donated $1.5 million to several BLM organizations and other civil rights groups. Writer dream hampton also revealed that both Beyonce and Jay Z have anonymous donated money to the movement.
The “Formation” singer also met with the family of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man who mysteriously died while in Baltimore police custody last April. Going further back, Beyonce appeared at the Justice for Trayvon Martin rally in 2013, after George Zimmerman was found not guilty of the murder of the unarmed teenager.
If Beyonce was all about sexually liberated Bey, then it’s safe to say this new LP will be leaning towards the singer’s #woke side.
