Well, this more than makes up for whatever the delay is with the long-awaited Detroit Pistons 30 For 30.

Behind the wisdom of Peabody Award winner Ezra Edelman, the hoops gods are bestowing a gift only the mercy of higher powers can muster. Requiem For The Big East will be the latest film in the linchpin ESPN documentary series and details in-depth the rise, impact and fall of perhaps the greatest college basketball conference of all-time.

Gotty and I acted like Catholic school girls sending these consecutive e-mails upon hearing the news.

Tins: WHOA!!!!!! This is f*cking awesome. I might cry when they talk about the Iverson/Victor Page Georgetown years.

Gotty: lmaooo, my exact words to my boy: I may cry lol

For perspective, Gotty hasn’t shed a tear since Omar walked into the convenience store towards the end of Season 5 of The Wire. With the amount of legendary coaches, players and moments the Big East offered from 1979 to 2013 and its role in the rise of ESPN, even attempting to list the would prove futile because there’s no honor in omitted classics.

Mark those calendars for March 16 at 9:00 p.m. EST, however. That just also happens to be the day the NCAA tournament field is confirmed. So, yeah, let’s just go on and make 3/16 – salute to Steve Austin – an unofficial thug holiday.
