Music these days tends to sound extremely redundant. Yet, as part of the Goodie Mob and one of the most outlandish members of the Dungeon Family, Gipp has always been known to stand out amongst the pack. Well, that outlandishness is paying dividends amidst the currently cluttered hip-hop atmosphere, as his new Mr. Get Down release sounds levels better than the majority of projects being released by today’s biggest names.

With the exception of maybe one or two songs, this 18 track mixtape from Gipp features nothing but album-quality tracks, fueled by top notch production and a variety of concepts that all warrant repeat listens. Whether the ATL native is waxing somber about his past on the sun-soaked “Paradise Life” or reaching for the sky alongside Mitchy Slick on the futuristic banger “Lincoln Park Party,” there are numerous highlights that ask to be cranked at the highest of levels.

The true greatness in the project, however, lies in all the layered soundscapes lacing each of the tracks. For instance, Gipp isn’t even featured until almost three minutes into the stepper-friendly “What Would I Do,” but the jazzy uptempo vibe lets crooner Calvin Richardson carry most of the weight and the song ends up being one of the best of the bunch.

Whether you’re a fan of his Mob ties or just appreciate well-produced rap music, download Big Gipp’s Mr. Get Down below and consider yourself lucky you didn’t have to pay for such a quality project.
