We’ve waited forever (and a day) but The Boondocks are almost back on the tube. Adult Swim promises “They’re well worth the wait.” We’ll know very soon as Season 4 premieres April 21.

Also in Aaron McGruder-related updates, the politically incorrect mind behind The Boondocks signed a deal with Adult Swim to revive his YouTube hit, Black Jesus. Per The Hollywood Reporter:

“The new half-hour live-action scripted comedy finds Jesus living in present-day Compton, Calif., on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers. Newcomer Gerald “Slink” Johnson (Grand Theft Auto V) stars as Black Jesus.”

The original skits first published in 2008 and were a low-key success as viral clips and as part of the Super Rumble Mixshow. For the new version, Boondocks vets Charlie Murphy and John Witherspoon are also involved while McGruder will executive produce alongside Trailer Park Boys‘ writer-director Mike Clattenberg and LEG’s Norman Aladjem and John Bravakis.

Welcome back, Brother McGruder. The game’s needed you.
