Make room for Boosie in your prayers because the Baton Rouge rapper is scheduled for surgery today after being diagnosed with kidney cancer two weeks ago. The 33-year-old father-of-seven asked his family, friends and fans for their well wishes as he heads to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for treatment. “I go in for surgery,” he revealed on Instagram. “I need prayers for a great surgery and rehabilitation at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. GodGotme.” He also thanked his supporters for their support following his initial announcement, writing, “I really appreciate the love and concern that’s been given to me since I was diagnosed with kidney cancer.”
Boosie first revealed the shocking diagnosis November 25 and stated prayer is what motivated him to reveal his latest health issue. “I need all my fans to pray for me,” he wrote in a now-deleted Instagram caption. “Doctor just told me I have cancer on my kidneys. Prayer is power that’s why I’m letting the world know. Prayfaboosie.”
The “Bad Azz” rapper is no stranger to health challenges. He’s been struggling with Type 1 Diabetes for the past 13 years, something he’s rapped about extensively. On “The Rain,” he revealed that the autoimmune disease sometimes makes him want to give up, and echoed those same sentiments on the song “Holding On”, rapping, “Diabetes in my body most time I feel like cryin’/King of the lions so I survive it.”
A number of his famous friends have come forward to publicly share their well wishes.
