Those who had the clicker on Steve Scully’s Washington Journal on C-SPAN saw Exhibit No. 3,457,982,063 of racism and bigotry still existing in the land of the free and home of the brave.
A caller named Anthony, a self-proclaimed Republican from San Diego, phoned into the show to discuss the Grand Old Party’s domination of this week’s midterm elections. And that’s when everything took a turn for the worst.
“I would just like to say that the Republicans – and I’m a Republican – please do not overreach. I know they’re going to overreach, but I’m telling you, if you advocate for the repeal of Obamacare and you get too extreme, then Hillary Clinton will be elected President in 2016. This is about race. The Republicans hate that n***** Obama.”
Scully quickly cut the caller off the air, condemning the commentary. “You can certainly make your point,” the host declared, “but you cross the line when you use language like that. And so to our viewers and listeners, I want to apologize.”
Swell job, America. And excellent election strategy, Democrats. This country is in great hands. Anthony from San Diego is living proof.
