Chance The Rapper – “The Writer”

“The Writer” just started making the rounds today but, actually, it was stashed on that Smoke Breaks IV project so many people overlooked (stop sleeping, get it here). Apparently, the tune’s at least a couple of years old, not that the date really matters either. It does sound a lot like the Chance we’ve come to know and love as he spends his rhymes declaring who he writes for.

“I’m a writer, probably as good as Elton John
But what’s writing good for if it ain’t helping moms?
I’m trying to feed Japan and seeing sights in Lebanon
And wiping away tears of the girls that’s gettin’ felted on”

Chicken Soup for rap souls.
