In one of the biggest gets in the history of Hip-Hop’s best podcast, Chuck D and Bomb Squad member Keith Shocklee sit down with The Combat Jack Show’s hosts for more than three hours. This is a must-listen if you love hip-hop, music in general, and black culture. Chuck is more than an elder statesman; he is a flag bearer and ambassador for the black community throughout the world, and it is evident in this interview.

Combat is a strong personality, but he ends up just holding onto his podcast for dear life, as Chuck D steers it throughout multiple topics at breakneck speed. Chuck is funny and incisive throughout and moves seamlessly from broadcasting, to race, to politics, and to hip-hop. Throughout the course of the interview, Chuck remains relaxed and confident, but never comes off bitter, as some folks tried to frame him during his online conflict with Hot 97’s on air personalities.

Other topics broached include the history of Public Enemy and Chuck’s initial reluctance to rhyme, the story of how he and the Bomb Squad hooked with Ice Cube to create his post-N.W.A. classic, and an extensive conversation about Professor Griff’s controversial 1989 interview.

Do yourself a favor, whether it’s a closed office door, a long commute home, or some great speakers and silence, open your ears and your mind and hear what Chuck D has to say.
