During the mid-90s, Coolio had a string of some of the biggest songs on the planet. Since then, the “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper has succumb to a life of early dismissals on reality TV shows and bad mugshots. Now, TMZ is reporting that the forever-braided 48-year-old has added another hang-up to the list, which coincidentally placed him in the same Las Vegas jail cell as his 22-year-old son a few days back. Damn.
Law enforcement tells TMZ … Coolio was a passenger in a Nissan Versa which was pulled over for a routine traffic violation early Friday morning.
We’re told the cops ran Coolio’s name in the system and noticed he had 2 active bench warrants out for his arrest stemming from multiple traffic violations.
Coolio was arrested and hauled to Clark County Detention Center — the same place where his son Grtis is rotting away for allegedly robbing some dude at gunpoint a few months ago.
Coolio’s bail has been set at $5,850. A court date has not yet been set.
Really, you can either laugh or cry about the situation. Making fun of the former superstar rapper who resorted to being a Juggalo a few years back would be the easy route. But really, it’s hard not to feel somewhat bad when the son of someone who had one of the biggest songs from an entire decade has to resort to stick-ups with prostitutes.
