When the activist movement surrounding the deaths of Mike Brown and Eric Garner started bubbling, many people voiced their wishes for artists to speak their mind and use their powerful voice to help lead the charge. Well, Crooked I wasted no time in speaking out against unjust police brutality towards African-Americans and delivered “I Can’t Breathe.”
Using a classic Tupac beat to help administer his chilling message of disgust, Kxng Crooked takes the concept somewhat literally and sounds almost broken, reciting raps representative of a bruised culture through somber, frustrated confusion. Although his energy is nearly heartbroken, his always choice wording couldn’t be more stirring.
Who will speak out next from the Hip-Hop community?
