Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley pens an open letter to the third world in “Set Up Shop.” Channeling the social activism that deified his father, “Jr. Gong” does his part to inspire the youth of developing countries. Currently tearing up the European dancehall scene, the song itself is tough and catchy. And the fact that he released such a visual on April 20th shouldn’t be overlooked. It’d be incredibly easy for him to pen a reefer anthem, sit back and collect the money that would naturally follow. By calling attention to real issues, Damien Marley continues living in the same lane as his father. No word yet on what “Shop…” will lead to, but fans of Gong’s signature blend of reggae and hip-hop should stay tuned.
