Only a few days ago, Kanye West sent people scrambling to clear room on their credit card statements when he announced the first of his collaborations with adidas would be releasing as early as June. As it turns out, people will see whatever he’s created in June. It just that those people will not include the general public.
Says High Snob:
“Internal sources have told us now, that in June West will be presenting internally his collection. That means that they are currently working on design and are planning to be finished in June, with the official release actually only planned for Spring 2015. Potentially there will be a first sneaker coming in Fall/Winter 2014, but even that is not confirmed yet. The full collection release is for now realistically planned for January/February 2015.”
This makes more sense honestly. In order for him to jump for Nike to adidas and he and the shoemaker have kicks ready for retail by June didn’t seem feasible in the first place. If that were the case, it would also mean that he most likely would have entered the adidas deal with leftover or possibly declined designs from Nike. Between the two companies, there are distinctly different aesthetics. If Kanye’s going to design for adidas, I’d rather see it done from a blank slate, not rehashed ideas.
Also, it means everyone can relax as we’ve caught a reprieve. With the target release date so far out, we have plenty of time to get our connects and checks in order before time to cop the YEEZis.
