Social networking saves lives and ever since Curtis got the hang of Ubertwitter, something crazy happened – he’s seen the most buzz around his name in three years. His entertaining digital ignorance to over three million followers has people talking. And in the music business, talking is good. Tweeting only gets you so far though. At some point, the music has to speak for 50 and this previously unreleased gem is more than a good start.
When he’s not shacking up with big girls, fantasizing about Erykah Badu or trying to start his own cult, Curtis has been in the studio working on a new album. I know Fif said “They Burned Me” was recorded back in ’08, but if he’s taking this direction on his new LP, we may be on to something. The somber, head nodding inducing beat is a perfect underhand pitch for 50 to express the demons of fame, money and friendship.
And a few shots at his baby mama for good measure.
