DeLorean – GRACE

Ask me what projects stand to leave a mark and I’ll quickly nominate DeLorean’s newly released free album GRACE as one of the few contenders.

The short answer is DeLorean’s always shown unmistakable promise through his distinctive, throaty delivery that conjures images of Baptist preacher more than a Houston rapper. His voice captivates and keeps listeners planted in their seats while hanging on his every word.

What will push GRACE to the front of the pack is that he and his team managed a well-executed rollout, where each early song or video formed a building block to what followed. Packaging and presentation are part of the everything because they’re indicators of artists who are ready (or not) to take the next step. Plus, the motherf*cker got Curtis Snow to show up in a video along the way and that was priceless to me.

Aside from the features with Bun B, Big K.R.I.T., Slim Thug and Smoke DZA, DeLo’s gotten production from DJ Burn One, DJ Mr. Rogers and Sha Money XL. All in all, GRACE has the markings of a landmark project for a guy who’s just started getting into his groove.
