Considering the majority of rappers keep their love life wide open, there were quite a few Valentine’s Day mixtape releases yesterday. But, since we don’t rap and have to keep tabs on the ladies who keep tabs on us, we didn’t get a chance to share as many of them as we would have liked. So, whether you were wining and dining last night, or gulping down a bowl of tear-flavored ice cream, here are five mixtapes to warm that little music-loving heart of yours.

You’ve got to have some serious chops to combine choice beats from Hova’s last four projects into one mixtape. Yet, that’s exactly what Jon Connor has done. After two solid releases during the best year of his career in 2011, this Flint-Town foreman re-imagines “Renegade,” “Poppin Tags” and plenty of your other favorite joints from Jay. Whether he does them justice or not, well, we’ll leave that up to you.

This new one from YelaWolf and his UK homie Ed Sheeran might not be a full mixtape, but the odd couple’s joint Slumdon Bridge EP is four tracks we’ve all been highly awaiting. Mostly, because Ed and Alabama talent already showed the chemistry was there with their joint “You Don’t Know,” an extremely leisurely song that allowed them both to showcase their multitasking skills on the mic.

The Kid Daytona wasn’t in the mood for a Hallmark holiday yesterday. So, instead of dialing up an ex or simply snagging some dime off the street, he and DJ Ted Smooth reminded folks Ain’t Sh*t Sweet with an R&B flavored tape that takes it back to the time when the genre was a tad more focused.

For the second installment of his El Chapo series, The Talk Of New York looks to keep the chatter going with this 12-track release. Features include Danny Brown, French Montana & Mike Knox. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the title translates to “the kid.” Tony’s 34, but that’s neither here nor there.

Love knows no boundaries. That’s why the always spaced-out Aleon Craft delivered a little intergalactic gushiness with his SMKA-hosted Cosmic Valentine mixtape. We’ve personally never seen an alien, but for Mr. Craft’s sake, hopefully they’re cute.
