SL’s team has done everything in the most exact and easiest ways to encourage taking a listen to The Number 23, which just released today. Great primer tracks leading up to the release? Yes, “Swervin’,” “Paper Cuts” and other quality tunes cover that department. Nice DJ to host? Love or hate him, Don Cannon’s fingerprints on any work usually mean the project we’re about to listen to is official. A few key features and production credits here and there? Yeah, there’s Killer Kill, Gotti, Pill, Luger and others but largely Jonesy going for dolo. They’ve even gone so far as to include assets for a stream of the tape and multiple download sources. And a TSS imprint stamped to the back cover? Has enough been done to warrant attention and a listen?
Oh yeah, the significance of the “23” in the title? 23rd and Wolfe Street in Little Rock, the block on which he was raised. Even though he’s migrated to the A, he’s still Arkansas forever and we’ve been glad to be along for the ride. I’m even happier to finally have my mitts on this mix.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got riding and listening to do.
