Rappers want to be athletes and athletes want to be rappers. Very few excel in one arena, let alone both. But don’t tell Stalley about defying the odds A native of football hotbed Massillon, Ohio he managed to score a basketball scholarship to Michigan. After an injury derailed that dream, he decided to throw his hat in the fold for this thing we call music. Moving to New York to pursue his next dream: he’s already toured opening for Mos Def and released a mixtape with fellow Ohio native Terry Urban. He’s currently working with GFCnewyork, most known for their involvement with Mickey Factz, to further his career. For his second mixtape, MadStalley: The Autobiography, he gives you his life story over re-imagined Madlib productions.
David D. & TC already gave him a proper introduction and he rocked our stage (||) down at A3C, so here’s an opportunity for you guys to get familiar with him for his music. I vaguely remember this cover from my Google Reader a few months back, but there’s something that makes you want to check peoples music out more when you see them live. So as I play catch up, I give you guys a chance as well.
