The rollout for Drake’s Nothing Was The Same has been as illustrious for a release day as one might’ve predicted. Not only has Aubrey called the ESPN studios in Bristol, Connecticut, his home all day today, he unveiled the visuals for the ’80s-inspired pop ballad, “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”
Drake knows what he’s doing. So the fact that he incorporates heavy ammunition, a kidnapping and mafioso activities – featuring A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg,* Fredo Santana and more – for such a song is both an acknowledgement of the guy’s musical fetish of knowing what it takes to push people’s buttons and his detractors never-failing propensity to fall over and over again into same boobie trap.
One thing’s for damn sure. Drake’s willing to fight for the love of his life. Or year. Or month. Or week. Whatever. And if it means taking on the most dastardly of villains and offing a fake friend after marathon sessions of Grand Theft Auto V, then that’s just what it’s going to have to be.
* – I think that’s Ferg. Or it could be Fredo making a face that looks like Ferg.
