Hell hath no further like a woman scorned, indeed. And if said woman happens to be a R&B singer, she might just make a song about you.
Such is the case with Elle Varner’s newest single “Cold Case.” The long running sentiment has been musicians – especially singers – create their best material when life hands them lemons. While the aforementioned number will not invoke memories of Mary J. in her prime mid-90s years or Marvin recording Here, My Dear, perhaps there is some validity in her lyrics. And perhaps “Cold” is the soundtrack set to define last year’s breakup with Knicks’ guard Iman Shumpert.
Who knows at this point. All this R&B hurt just reminds me of something, though. I sure do miss Jazmine Sullivan.
