Thanks to series like Twilight and The Hunger Games, young-teen-fiction-fatigue is setting in for a lot of us. I had sworn off paying to see teen angst awkwardly waltz around a screen with action after my girlfriend dragged me to Break Dawn Pt. 2.
That was until this trailer for Ender’s Game dropped.
Based on the sublime universe crafted in pen by Orson Scott Card, there’s every reason to believe Game will be one of the best films of 2013. Those pinning for evidence had best head to their local library and check out Card’s original novel; both epic in scale and philosophically challenging, the book tosses some particularly tough pills at its audience without blinking. It tells one of the most provocative stories in science fiction, with an ending as trippy as it is unexpected.
Whether or not you are a fan of the series long-due for a movie adaptation or someone who just likes their sci-fi kicks, look for Ender’s Game to set a new standard in the increasingly-stale PG-13 adventure category.
