Fat Joe’s “Pride N’ Joy” never took off how I thought it would earlier this summer for whatever reasons. Instead of burying the song in the Internet graveyard of missed singles, Don Cartegena re-ups with the remix featuring a second cast of heavy hitters. Solid move, Joe. Solid f’n move.
Significantly less congested than its predecessor, “PNJ” 2.0 feels more natural with distinguishable vocals from two of the more in demand harmonizers at the moment (Miguel and Trey), a quick, but worthwhile verse from Pusha as well as solid addition from Ashanti. This just feels as if sounds awesome on a Friday evening getting off work heading to happy hour. Or with your lady riding shotgun. Either one would bring out the effectiveness of the record that seems tailor made for those cool autumn nights.
Then again, I said the original was a great summer song, so what do I really know? Maybe I’m becoming the NFL replacement ref equivalent to a blog writer and I don’t even know it yet. Having said that, I do like this song – which can be found on iTunes -and stand by the claim behind it. And that’s all that matters to this guy here at the end of the day.
