Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has been swimming in money since the turn of the millennium, and his silver screen debut should continue that trend. Called Ted, the movie looks like a real life version of his hit cartoon, with much of the humor deriving from the titular character, a living, smoking, swearing teddy bear. Featuring the voice of MacFarlane, the children’s toy will probably get into hilarious misadventures with co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.
His cartoons are generally hit or miss, but Fox’s wunderkind looks to be onto something here. Wahlberg has flexed his comedic muscles before in The Other Guys*, Mila Kunis is Mila Kunis, and MacFarlane’s teddy bear looks pretty damn funny, even if it is in a juvenile kind of way. Considering the abundance of studio fluff that dominates the summer movie schedule (Ted comes out July 13th), something like this could be a deliciously salty escape.
At the very least, it wasn’t based off of a board game.
* – An incredibly underrated movie.
