Kentucky Is Really Gonna Suck Next Year

After the NBA Finals comes the last bit of interesting pro ball news for months on end: the NBA Draft. To little surprise, the Washington Wizards went with the no-brainer and scooped John Wall for the #1 pick in hopes he gives Gilbert Arenas proper ammunition on the basketball court. But those Wildcats always find a way to make history. DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings), Patrick Patterson (Houston Rockets), Eric Bledsoe (Los Angeles Clippers) and Daniel Orton (Orlando Magic) all followed suite, making Kentucky the first school to ever have five players drafted in the first round. Something they should be proud of and perhaps nauseated by at the same time, given the effect it will have on next year’s roster.

The last pick, Daniel Orton seems mighty suspect in the act of intentionally breaking records. The Magic are in dire need of a slasher and Dwight Howard isn’t seeing a decline in his minutes anytime soon. So unless the wannabe Superman needs a formidable wrasslin’ partner, that selection will ultimately prove worthless. Stan Van Gundy was reportedly too preoccupied in texting his brother to give a damn, regardless.
