As is tradition in Hip-Hop, the snowball rolling downhill that is French Montana hits the club alongside Ace Hood for the visual to their collaboration “You Don’t Hear Me Tho.” Most videos fail to impress these days, so in 2012, speaking on said topic is a moot point. In regards to the song though, here’s what I do know. French, while not the second coming of Big Pun or Kool G Rap by any stretch of the imagination, continues to release songs that ride with unexplainable reason. “Shot Caller” is an anthem whether you’d like to admit it or not and with Diddy funding and Ross helping executive produce his solo debut, he’ll at least have a puncher’s chance to drop something of note. Ace Hood, on the other hand, isn’t as bad as some people bill him to be. In fact, his verse and his patent aggressiveness here serve as the highlight of the song.
Oh, and one more thing I can say about French, dude stays fresh for the most part. That Florida Marlins hat is tough. It’d go great with some South Beaches. Ain’t that right, Gotty?
