“Black history started 1619?
So you mean the first sixteen my n***s wasn’t seen?
Stop it, no logic
I got it, no preachin’
What would Gee do? You boys get ready to see”
That street corner that Gee Watts is orating on just continues to grow, doesn’t it? If you haven’t, do the right thing and jump on board. “199X (Sixteen Nineteen)” indicates that the bandwagon is going to get very crowded very soon.
Heavy-hearted, cocky, defiant, Watts continues to display a well-informed swagger that he began to foster in Watts Riot (download it here). And, yeah, it’s easy to overhype rappers who combine street appeal with a good head on their shoulders. But I’ll be damned if Gee’s next mixtape, 199X, isn’t one of my most-anticipated upcoming projects.
Stay tuned for more info on the project, and gush about the video in the comments.
