The other weekend I was out in DC and myself shaking my head at the amount of homeless people forced to sleep in cardboard boxes in temperatures which couldn’t have been more than 35 degrees. Whether you have a Bill Cosby Christmas sweater in the closet or aren’t the biggest fan of the holiday season, one thing it often manages to do is instill an added sense of appreciation. What we do have is a blessing and losing everything is one “day from hell” away from becoming a reality.
That thought drives home the point why events such as this cannot receive enough promotion. Acting as a real life Saint Nick, Give-A-Shoe will be accepting sneaker donations for underprivileged children/athletes throughout the month of December. The Overtown Youth Center – also apart of Alonzo Mourning Charities, Inc. – will be the recipient of people’s kindness. My homie Ali of SneakerMeStupid.com informed me of the drive and here is how the masses can be apart of making some kids Christmas slightly more merry.
All the info needed should be on the flyer. If not head over to SMS for any additional info. So for all the sneaker heads out there, sleep better at night knowing some young boy or girl can thrive off your addiction. And even if you don’t participate in this, try to make someone’s holiday a tad brighter. You’ll feel better about yourself. Trust me.
