While locked away, Gucci Mane has probably been busier keeping his affairs in order than most people out in the free world. Yesterday, he declared war with five albums, and more news has surfaced that he’s been keeping his lawyer busy, too.
Back in March, Guwop quietly dropped charges for fraud, racketeering, and conspiracy against Waka Flocka, Waka’s mom Deb Antney, OJ Da Juiceman, Zaytoven, and singer Khia Stone.
Unless I’m mixing up my Gucci Mane jail stints, this case goes back to when he was incarcerated in 2009. At the time, Deb Antney was allegedly acting as his manager, collecting royalties and releasing his music without his consent, as well as opening up corporations in his name as the self-imposed CFO of 1017 Brick Squad Records, also without his consent. Supposedly.
The suit also named OJ Da Juiceman, Zaytoven, and Khia Stone, but didn’t elaborate on their connections. From Gucci’s position, it sounded like Ms. Deb was basically the supposed mastermind of it all, and it made me excessively sad to see OJ and Ziggy’s names listed on there. I felt like mommy and daddy were fighting or something.
Whatever the case, maybe because he was leaned out of his mind when he filed the suit or jealous of Waka, for example, it appears that he’s trying to make nice with his friends. Or maybe he just let bygones be bygones. Who knows.
Since we’ve only heard about Gucci, let’s hope that all parties are willing to bury the hatchet and rekindle their friendships. It was a little over a year ago that Waka vowed to never work with Gucci again, so hopefully Mr. Mane’s latest move helps mend that fence. I know I wouldn’t be upset at a project entirely produced by Zaytoven featuring Gucci, Waka, and OJ.
But knowing Gucci, he’s already got a couple of these stashed away.
