The Bugatti Veyron has now been dethroned.

Meet the new fastest, street-legal, production car on the planet: the Hennessey Venom GT.

This American-made monstrosity smashed the old topspeed record (267.85 MPH) with a new speed of 270.49 MPH. The record was set back on February 14th at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Sadly, the Hennessey Venom GT won’t be recognized in Guinness yet, as they couldn’t replicated the run going in the opposite direction, because NASA forbade it. And reports are saying, they could have went higher with the speed, but ran out of space on the 3.2-mile runway.

Birdman might wanna call up the Hennessey folks if he still wants the fastest whip on the block.
