TDE’s second generation is in full effect. With “Ronnie Drake,” Isaiah Rashad shows a different, more introspective side of his music as he ponders death and senseless killings in today’s society. He starts off by establishing that it’s a kill or be killed world, and then goes on to expand on the ‘be killed’ part. It’s a stark contrast from the way he raps on “Shot You Down,” even though it’s more or less a similar subject. And being that “Ronnie Drake” is almost spoken word, it’s very interesting just hearing him share his perspective on the topic.
SZA takes care of hook duty, The Antydote mans the boards and, as with everything else TDE, the record is Mixed By Ali.
