J. Cole – ‘Be Free’ (Michael Brown Tribute)

“All we wanna do is take the chains off, all we wanna do is be free”

In the middle of the night, J. Cole dropped a plea more than a song with “Be Free.” Inspired, obviously, by the slaying of Michael Brown, Cole forgoes rapping to simply ask passionately for freedom. Really my words simply won’t suffice for neither the unfortunate events in Ferguson nor the heartfelt track by Cole, so here’s what he had to say:

Rest in Peace to Michael Brown and to every young black man murdered in America, whether by the hands of white or black. I pray that one day the world will be filled with peace and rid of injustice. Only then will we all Be Free – Cole

Cole also offered this a few days back on Twitter in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy and protests in Ferguson:
