J. Cole – “Cole Summer”

Sampling L-Boogie and D’Angelo’s 1998 classic, Light Skin Jermaine takes us all on an audio time warp with “Cole Summer.” Through his own admission, don’t expect for this to be sign of things to come in regards to Born Sinner set to drop in a little over two months. But sheesh, can we imagine it is?

Cole vents for nearly five minutes on the freebie he tossed on Twitter last night and should serve as an olive branch for anyone not sold with “Power Trip” (in my opinion, a pretty good single, but whatever).

“This sample is yelling loop me
Ms. Hill, please don’t sue me
Cause I ain’t one of these rappers out here frontin’ like he got it nigga
I ain’t fuckin’ got it, nigga…
Throwin’ thousands in the strip club with Drizzy
Difference is I’m throwin’ four he throwin’ 50
Lord forgive me, bitches sayin’ you a rappin’ nigga
Ain’t you s’posed to tip more?
I don’t see no pussy baby ain’t you s’posed to strip more?
Confessions of a cheap ass nigga
But I finally put my mama in that E-Class nigga
And I told her quit her job, but hold your horses
If my next album flop it’s back to the post office
Both of us, shit…
They sayin’ that’s a real possibility
The thought alone is killin’ me, I think I need to let it go
I think I need to let it go…”

Cole’s feeling generous, too. Expect Truly Yours 2 later today.
