Realistically, I’m not expecting Cole World – that’s what I’m calling the album for now – until the first quarter of 2011. However, bills must be paid and a buzz has to be maintained, which means Jermaine is still breathing air into microphones for the masses enjoyment.
The vets are taking notice to Cole’s talent, too. “I’m Coming Home” is a reference track for Dirty Money’s Last Train To Paris evident by the Andre Harrell line. In all honesty though, this is the type of song I expected from Fayetteville’s favorite as a “lead single.” It has the potential to have crossover appeal while still showing Cole’s lyrical prowess. Just something to put in the air when that time comes around.[audio:http://smokingsection.uproxx.com/TSS/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/J.Cole-Im-Coming-Home.mp3%5D
Bonus: Last year, the abuction, rape and murder of five-year-old Shaniya Nicole Davis was one of those crimes which damn near brought tears to my eyes. Judging from these lyrics, the tragedy obviously effected J. Cole as well.
Double Bonus: Here’s Dirty Money’s version. I appreciate Puff attempting take an inventory of his personal character, but this was better off being left for Jermaine. According to Miss Info however, this version was written by Jay-Z with Alex Da Kid’s artist Skylar Grey lacing the hook.[audio:http://smokingsection.uproxx.com/TSS/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P.Diddy-Dirty-Money-Im-Coming-Home-produced-by-Alex-Da-Kid.mp3%5D
