J. Cole’s Forest Hills Drive Homecoming special is coming to HBO next month but that isn’t all Cole has up his sleeve. On Wednesday morning, he announced a series of documentaries entitled J. Cole’s Road to Homecoming that will lead up to the premiere of the special on January 9th.
According to Cole, the four Road To episodes and the final 90-minute Homecoming special are all a collective and serve to “document some of the most important moments of the last year of (his) life.” The first episode, “F**k Money, Spread Love,” gives a behind the scenes look at the rollout of Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive, from the announcement of its existence to the actual release of the album.
In the 30-plus minute episode, we see Cole shooting the “Apparently” video, chatting with Big K.R.I.T., shooting hoops with his boys and even the time he surprised a fan by showing up at her house and playing the album weeks before its release.
Cole says the episodes will only be available online until January 9th and “After that you gotta wait for the DVD. So enjoy them while while you can.”
J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming premieres on HBO on January 9th at 10 PM EST.
