J Dilla – “Filth” x ‘King Of Beats’ Boxset

Gifts from J Dilla’s vault make his fans look like this and there’s no need to show shame. His unreleased joints periodically emerge without warning. Except, this time, Ma Dukes has something special for Jay Dee heads with new heat and a surprise release.

“Filth” acts as the latest J Dilla track to hit the wild and gives a sneak-peek at his songwriting process. It’s a short workout in sh*t talking but never got finished to our knowledge.

The song’s driven by a break beat that’s built for the parks and cyphers. Something about the drums’ connection to the subtle bassline reminds me of The Roots and SCREAMS for a Black Thought feature. So I need whoever is in charge to get Philly’s finest on this, thanks.

This is the part where I would tell you to hit play then wait a few weeks hoping for more rare Jay Dee material. Except there’s much more to “Filth” than just being a loosie. The record, according to SPIN, is a part of King of Beats: a box set including 40 beats from his “Batches” series on multiple vinyls and a tape holding five songs which haven’t hit stores. There’s also a floppy disk housing a beat (because when’s the last time you used a floppy disk?) and much more.

The items sets out to resemble Dilla’s very own SP-1200, sports a wood and chrome casing and goes for sale on August 26. Listeners screaming “Shut up and take my money” already can pre-order it via this link.

Now play the record and wait until we get another freebie.
