Paint this one peculiar as J-Kwon takes time away from playing church bingo to fire off a few shots at Pusha T and Odd Future. The last time we heard J-Kwon’s name it was because he went off the grid completely, leaving his record label worried about him. They were probably more concerned with him owing them another album than his actual well being. That’s my guess.

In his NY Times interview, Kanye West mentioned his appreciation for the St. Louis rapper best known for creating “Tipsy” (according ‘Ye, “People would think that’s like a lower-quality, less intellectual form of hip-hop, but that’s always my No. 1.”) J-Kwon heard his name called and instantly sprung into action with a “Pushing The Odds.”

Why? It seems like his premise is that “these people owe” him some paper (maybe so he can pay back the label?) for mentioning his name. He lifts a bit of Em’s flow, using it to mock Pusha T’s braids (zing!) while threatening to “poppin'” his ass and then goes in with a verse dedicated OFWGKTA that’s like a bee that’s lost its stinger. Honestly, I don’t even think he can name any members of OF besides Tyler.

I imagine Pusha’s sitting around with that same expression.

Does this mark have an album coming out? Can anybody remind me if Kwame ever came back to take digs at Big after the polka dots remark? Because that’s what this feels like.Anywho, give it a listen for the fun of it and then update your records. We may/may not hear from Kwon for another several years but at least we know he’s okay today.
