This is the release Jay Rock fans have been waiting for. In spite of using the obvious rehash with a title like “Money Trees Deuce,” the only other thing that really carries over from the G.K.M.C. original is the Rock’s familiar flow. The rest of this sequel is pure, downtrodden gold.
TDE’s tough guy vividly details how he maneuvers through the fog, using an instrumental from Flippa that sonically feels like 4pm on an incredibly muggy, steaming summer day – hot outside, in more ways than one.
Between this heater and “Pay For It,” Rock’s upcoming and still unnamed sophomore album can’t come soon enough.
