If there was still any lingering doubt about who’s the greatest ever, let me answer that for you: Jay-Z. Hov. Sean Carter. The man who transcended music and took Hip-Hop culture into places it wouldn’t have been granted entry otherwise. His latest and greatest endeavor was helping to facilitate the Nets’ move from Jersey to Brooklyn and turn their losing culture on its face by jump-starting a winning atmosphere.
And with that manifesto, Jay ushered in the era of the Brooklyn Nets in grandiose fashion. eight shows, eight nights, zero unsold tickets, and one fabulous documentary by Scheme Engine and Life+Times chronicling the whole thing. Hit play below for some behind-the-scenes footage of what went into the Barclay’s Center opening concerts, and of course the warming clip of Hov on the subway, introducing himself to an elderly woman who couldn’t quite recall who he was.
