Just Blaze was one of Roc-A-Fella’s in-house producers during its peak and has also created numerous classic beats for other artists during his illustrious career, so he has plenty of fascinating behind the scenes stories. Saturday evening he hosted an impromptu Twitter question and answer session which started after he tweeted that the beat for Usher’s “Throwback” may not have happened without Jon B, but he was saving that story “for the book.”

The Jay-Z stories alone are interesting enough, but Blaze also shared tidbits about working with Aaliyah, standing up to Dame Dash, recording with Jadakiss during his beef with Beanie Sigel, Cam’ron’s initial reaction to “I Really Mean It,” “borrowing” Kanye’s LV scarf, and getting a motivational speech from DJ Khaled. Oh, and he sounded off on Jay’s follow-up to Lemonade.
