Kanye West appeared at the Grammys tonight to perform his recent Paul McCartney-produced single “Only One,” despite the fact that many probably were tuning in to see Yeezy’s new adidas shoe collaboration.
But ‘Ye’s first priority, shoes be damned, was showing off the new tune. He did that, bedecked in the new kicks and a maroon velour track suit, and it was surprisingly sparse by West’s standards. There were no surprise guests, tracks, or outbursts. The Chicago emcee performed the cut around a singular light and then got the f*ck out before the lights lifted and the camera cut to Miley Cyrus.
Still, the frank performance was appropriate considering the emotional weight of “Only One.” No fireworks or anything else were necessary to get across his message.
