Who’s hip to Kendrick Lamar’s “Kurupted”?
Apparently, the unreleased gem dates back at least three or four years, right when young K-Dot was growing out of his Lil Wayne phase and into his own. However, the real kicker is that this is actually a unique dedication to his big homie Kurupt.
But, instead of just shouting out the DPG OG by name – which he does, Kendrick pays homage by channeling Young Gotti’s multisyllabic flow, then disintegrating the creepy beat to audible dust.
This is more than just a homage from one dope rapper to another. This is like…a passing of the torch. Or, maybe, a taking of the torch? In a good, respectful way.
