Everybody’s favorite kid from Compton continues to expand the reach of his art by diving into a new creative arena. Per Fader, the TDE star and director Kahlil Joseph will premiere m.A.A.d, a short film inspired by his good kid, m.A.A.d city, at the Sundance’s NEXT Fest, the first annual mini-film festival showcasing the works of industry upstarts.

Oddly enough, the idea of cinematic presentation’s one K.Dot’s apparently had in mind since as early as 2012 when he shared the the idea with GQ and outlined a hypothetical lineup. Apparently, no big names will play characters but they may not be needed given how invested fans are in the major label debut attached to the project.

The 14-minute flick’s as described as “a kaleidoscope of storylines and ideas that defy typical categorization to explore new languages and new forms.” If that translates to “dope,” m.A.A.d. could push m.A.A.d. city into hallowed territory of Hip-Hop classics sooner than anyone could’ve expected.

Next Fest 14 will be held at Ace Hotel Downtown in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 9. For more info and tickets, go here.
