In the five years since his 2007 album Make Sure They See My Face, Kenna’s output of just a handful of songs might seem like slim pickings, but keep in mind that the eclectic Neptunes affiliate had to withstand a hard drive failure that wiped out a bunch of his music last year — not to mention that he’s also been busy with global initiatives like 2010’s Summit on the Summit, which helped shine a light on the global water crisis.
Not to get it confused, Kenna hasn’t exactly put music on the back burner. In fact, he’s set to put back in gear the lead up to his next album, Songs for Flight, which is scheduled for next year. Continuing from last year’s Land 2 Air Chronicles 1, Kenna will be releasing two more volumes of the EP set, with the second entry set to drop in November. “Long Gone,” the new single from that project, is a moody, electro-tinged affair, and comes complete with a cinematic, self-directed video that explores the seedier side of celebrity.
