Rappers can put out as much quality music as they want, but without a proper “hit” that radio stations can slobber over, mainstream success will remain a pipe dream. Kid Ink looks ready to dive over that hump with “Bad Ass.”
As club-ready a track as we’ve heard from the L.A. lyricist, every ingredient seems in place for a song that will echo through traffic and reverberate through clubs: a twerk-y beat, addicting chorus, big name features (MMG’s Wale* and Meek Mill) and some sexy visuals. Diehard fans have heard more pensive material from Ink. It’s up to tracks like this to expand that group of people.
* – Note how Wale sings the first part of his verse, supplying his haters with ammunition in a way that only Wale can.
