100-Word Review: Kid Ink’s ‘My Own Lane’

Never one to reinvent the wheel, Kid Ink talks about plenty of familiar subject matter in My Own Lane. Weed, whips and women are all in play, the results being a fun – but rarely challenging – party compilation. Expect songs like the Chris Brown-assisted “Show Me” and “Murda” – which features Pusha-T in fine form – to stay in party rotation. The shortcomings are apparent, clear and to be expected: despite the album title, Ink definitely occupies the same lane previously traversed by Big Sean, Tyga and the more recent offerings of Wiz Khalifa. It goes down as expected.

Standout Songs: “Show Me,” “Iz U Down,” “Murda”
Songs to Skip: “We Just Came To Party,” “I Don’t Care”
