In perhaps a more detailed look at the reasons behind the actual sale of physical CDs, this article reports that a traditionally key group – teenagers – simply aren’t buying music in stores anymore. One kid put it best – “CDs are a lot of money for the amount of music I like.”
Weighing the options – iPod filled brimming stolen/free audio wares vs. saving the weekly allowance to go buy two cds…no-brainer.
To all of this, a Capitol Records exec said…
“There are a lot of free Internet sites where you can access music and there’s just advertising on the site. Is that the wave of the future? I’m not sure, but we’re looking at all of these as possibilities and we are open to trying to find a business model that works for everyone.”
Note to said exec – We’ll accept your ad money bruh. Hit me on the hip.
