I’m not that well versed in what a signature Lady Gaga song sounds like, but I know the cuts from ARTPOP have all grabbed my attention. And they all carry a feel that’s reminiscent of a real retro, dancefloor vibe that knocks.
With “Jewels N’ Drugs,” Mother Monster’s got another motley crew of characters – this time it’s T.I., Too Short and Twista – surrounding her and, as odd as the grouping seems, “Jewels…” works. Sounds like an updated ode to the ’80s era of coke on mirrors, disco balls and excessive spending. And while it’s maybe not one to be played repeatedly, when the DJ drops the track at the club the party won’t miss a beat.
Update: The CDQ got pulled so here’s a rip from the live performance at the iTunes Music Festival.
