Late Friday night, Lil Reese issued an apology via Twitter after coming under intense fire once the video of him attacking a young woman went viral. In the message, the 19-year-old simply states “Everybdy makes mistakes I was out of charcter & ive grown sense [sic]” and asked not to be judged.

The update follows the alleged beating victim, identified as Tariah Maire, coming forward with her own statement saying the incident happened last year and she has moved on, dismissing it all as “old and dumb.” She finalizes her words by asserting that “a n*gga who fight females is one themself [sic].”
Whether Reese truly meant his words or even issued his statement on his own accord or for other reasons isn’t easy to determine. Gauging sincerity in entertainment and the electronic world is virtually impossible. The best way to decide is to observe Reese’s actions, words and music moving forward before making an assessment.
