Upon my first spins of Little Brother’s “Cheatin,” I remember being initially caught off guard. Clearly Percy Miracles and his Ron Isley impersonating pal Mr. Diggs were poking fun at the ridiculous soap opera drama nature of R&B, as part of their Minstrel Show concept. Yet, the spoof song was one of my favorites from the album. Is that supposed to happen?
Either way, when they start counting down the ways they love the girl and they “can’t think of nothin’ that rhyme with fifteen,” it makes me chuckle every time.
